Teaching In Color
an alternative way of seeing music
Founder and Owner John Leahy has developed alternative teaching styles and believes that music can be seen and comprehended through various lenses, and though methods of teaching may vary based on the students preferences and learning style, the destination does not change.

One method of teaching that may be applied with students on the spectrum include learning in color. This method of teaching breaks down instruments using colors instead of musical notation in the beginning stages.

John believes there are therapeutic benefits that can be found in music, once they are unlocked for the individual, routine begins to develop.
Positive reinforcements and consistent motivating has been key to John's teaching and long term success with students.

Our Stories

John Leahy
Owner \ Head of Youth Programs \ Guitar Instructor
Hi! My name is John Leahy, thank you for viewing my profile. I have been playing guitar for the last 11 years of my life, in addition to teaching actively for the past 3 years. During my time as a teacher, have been able to create catered lessons for each client I get the opportunity to work with. I have found that all students should be looked at as their own musician, as it is vital to creating the foundation in a productive and insightful manner.

In addition to teaching, I have been involved in the music industry in many different environments. Prior to teaching I was in a touring band, opened for some of my favorite artists, experienced venues all over the East Coast, along with being a booking manager / agent for multiple venues and bands in the area.
As the owner of Peace Valley Studios, I have made it one of my goals to create an outlet through music. Another field of experience pertains to my work in the autism community. I was brought into the community through a non speaking adult, originally as his songwriting teacher. I received my autism certification through IBCCES (International Board of Credentialing & Continuing Edu. Standards) along with taking courses at Arizona State University focusing on facilitated communication.

Seeing how beneficial it was to bring a voice to a non speaking individual, I instantly fell in love with the idea of the therapeutic benefits in music. I am now the caretaker for this man, and have been able to develop our relationship in so many ways through arts and music.

My overall goal for the current state and future of Peace Valley Studios, is to spread the gift of music to everyone who comes through our doors. PVS is dedicated to providing various programs ,that we feel are not currently offered in our community.

Hello! My name is Hugh Cameron—I’m the creator of DOPEY CO and M!TI (MADE IN THE IMAGINATION). I started the company in June of 2020, and it’s been an amazing experience ever since.
I’ve been into the arts & music scene since I was little—from taking art classes, creating products for my school, taking piano and voice lessons, and much more…it’s all led me to here.
Peace Valley Studios is one of a kind. Here; everyone is welcome. I run the Autism Support Art program, where we give our students the freedom to make all kinds of art.
From painting, to sketching, to nature walks and much more; here at Peace Valley Studios, you can make a difference. I look forward to meeting new students and showing them that the imagination is much more powerful than they may think.
